Contest #1 (and a belated introduction)

Blogger has been out to get me lately, so I'm a bit late getting to the party here. (And in spite of whatever Blogger may tell you, my blog is located here--I moved it from Blogger months ago.)

I live in the suburbs of Philadelphia, and I'm a wordsmith by trade. This is the first time I've participated in this swap. When I heard about it during the second round, I couldn't sign up because Knittymama was my downstream pal in a different swap and I didn't want her to know who I was! From the introductions and contest entries, it looks like there's a lively, varied group of knitters in this round--I'm already having loads of fun.

My favorite spot to knit and drink coffee is at a local coffee shop (of which, alas, I have no photo). Not only do I get to drink good coffee (and snack on yummy accompaniments) without having to wash any dishes, but I also get to knit in the company of some very fine friends. My local knitting group meets weekly, and since we're all nuts for coffee, a coffee shop is our preferred location.

My favorite spot is this comfy red chair at our local starbucks. Java chip frap, banana nut loaf and yarn. Good times my friend, good times.

Ok, this is where it all happens, people. You can see a Christmas stocking in progress sitting on my end table, along with my coffee. That's a cat toy hanging out of the drawer. The cat also enjoys sleeping in my knitting basket between the rocker and the end table.

That table is where my knitting books all live. At least those I reach for the most often. Sadly, the light above me is not an Ott, but I like it anyway. And yes, those drawers in the table are stuffed with yarn... how did you guess?

And while I am most often found knitting here, the truth is that I'll knit darned near anywhere.

My comfy old navy leather chair is my favorite place to knit and drink coffee. It's right next to the living room radiator, so it's nice and toasty in the winter, and my two tabby cats like to gather round. My friend Emily crocheted the gorgeous afghan.-Jodi

My "favorite" knit spot is a work in progress...I've got most of the elements here, but none are together. And right now, the seat of honor is mostly used by HRH, The Meezer...
Probably sometime after the first of 2008, things will fall in place and I'll have my real knit spot organized. The bins are here, the books, the yarn, even the music! And as you can tell, my favorite Knitting Assistant, too! lolol!

How relaxing does this look??????? Yes, this is my favorite place to knit! Here's the problem though....my boys think this lounging chaise is for them. I've had this chair for 3 years, and can probably count on one hand the number of times I've sat in it to knit. HOWEVER, when I have, it's been snowing or raining outside, and I can hear the pitter patter against the sliding deck doors and the window. Give me a nice cup of "java", and it doesn't get any better than that.

I love to knit by the fireplace, with or without fire. I have a nice arm chair, and my laptop in front of me on the coffee table. I usually watch films or listen to audio books while knitting - we have no telly. My spot is in the middle of the living room and has good light.
Of course, when the weather permits, I bring my needles and myself to the back garden and enjoy the sun.

Sorry I have no Pictures I have not learned how to make that work yet but I am getting a crash course this weekend courtesy of my Hubby.. But I wanted to share about my favorite spots to Knit.. I have a Love Sac that is an over sized bean bag type thing that is comfy, way too comfy, When my husband and I were first together we did not have bed we had this huge bag we slept on, Now we have a bed and a bag. I love to knit in both spots, At night while watching (listening to the news) or during the day in my front room in the love Sac.. :) Kimmie

Contest #1 My favourite knitting spot - a WIP

This was, and will be again soon(ish), my favourite knitting spot! It is a bit of a WIP at the moment, (hence the lack of any real furniture, yarn or coffee!!). The floorboards are nearly finished being sanded back and will need 3 coats of varnish, then the walls need painting and then finally I can get my comfy chair, knitting and coffee sorted, sit down in front of the fire and cosy in for a nice evening.

This is my favorite knitting place. On the left side of the photo, which I couldn't get in the shot, is the fireplace. If I put the foot rest up while there is a fire, my feet stay nice and warm. I usually curl up here with a nice cuppa' Joe or tea and watch my favorite movies and knit.

You can see the chart on the arm rest for the Secret of the Stole. I'm almost done with clue #1.

I have several favorite spots for sipping some great coffee and knitting.
Indigo Coffee and Tea (http://indigocoffeeandtea.com/) is my favorite place for sipping on coffee; it's a fair-trade coffeehouse, with wonderful coffee roasted locally, and is also an art gallery featuring locally made art. I also happen to work there, so I might be a little biased- though I know the coffee drinks I make rock!

I also enjoy sipping and knitting at The Sow's Ear (http://www.knitandsip.com/). I took my first class there 4 years ago this month, and have been addicted ever since. They have a great selection of yarn, comfy chairs, fabulous classes, and friendly gals to help sort out knitting problems. Even though I work at the coffeehouse down the street, I still go to the Sow's Ear once a week or so for their yarny goodness. It's all good!

I tend to knit and sip on the go, as well. I like to knit at my oldest daughter's ice skating lessons and soccer games, and if I have coffee handy, it makes it even better.

At home, most knitting is done on the couch in front of the tv, like many others have posted. No pets to keep me warm- just 4 kids that try to grab my skein or needles. So most knitting is done under cover of darkness.

I love seeing/reading about everyone's favorite spots- gets me itchy to knit and sip right now!

My favorite place to knit is on the left end of my couch, in front of the tv. I like to watch tv on dvd, right now I'm in the second season of 24. I have an end table next to me for coffee and knitting accessories, an overhead lamp, and the remotes always handy!

This is going to probably sound quite odd, but my favorite place to knit and crochet, and actually in the last 5 months the only place that I have been able to knit and crochet, is in one of two chairs I sit in to nurse my 5 month old. I don't have any photos, but downstairs I have my knitting and upstairs in Erin's room I have my crocheting. Each chair has a small table next to it for my water bottle and any warm beverage that is being consumed - although mostly they are lukewarm as I am afraid of spilling on the baby. Projects pretty much get worked on when she is being fed, although lately, as she gets more active, it is becoming more difficult as she likes to play with the yarn.

My favorite knitting place has no scenic view, and is not very photogenic either: just a comfy spot on the couch. On my right, I have a bookshelf, the top three shelves of which are crammed with overflowing bags and baskets of yarn and stacks of books and magazines, and I can wedge a mug of coffee in there as well. The bottom three shelves are empty because my one-year-old daughter can reach them! :)

This is my favoriet place to knit. It's the Blue Moon Coffee shop and this is where the Moonies gather. The reason I like it so much is the people really. Though I do enjoy the big brown chair (not pictured). They have tasty coffee, tasty chai, tasty treats and goofy knitters all in one spot.

Who could ask for more.

There it is - AAHH - I can feel myself relaxing already. I love, love this little spot. I have my bird happily chirping behind me and an open window beside me. My coffee is hot right next to me and of course, my knitting is in my lap. What more could one want, but a little spot of their own :) craftyloca

My favorite place to have a cup of coffee, at least the first on of the day, is in bed. I love to knit there too, but I am just not putting up a picture of it until I get it made and I would rather knit! So I am going to give you pictures of a couple of my other favorite places.

This chair is my second favorite place to knit and/or drink coffee.

However, the deck outside is not really a year-round knitting option here in Minnesota. So when I am not outside I am often found here on the couch knitting away. Lately a fair amount of my knitting has been on this Dr. Who scarf for my youngest daughter.

Here is one of my favorite places to knit.. and where I knit most often. It is the corner of my couch with a diet pepsi handy; my Ott lite and my dog Sumo at my feet. I have a good view of the TV if I want to watch something and the fireplace is right in front of me if it's cold outside.
