Getting to Know You Pt 2 (for Jess)

My home internet has been down basically since I signed up, so sorry Jess for not posting/emailing as much as I wanted to-also the reason I don’t have blog. I was considering setting one up but my work internet access is sporadic depending on who is in the office! I am having to get a friend to enter this for me. I have to admit, life without the internet at home is slightly stressful! The number of things I want to google but cant! Anyway in an attempt to let Jess know a little more, here are my hobbies. Knitting obviously, and the theatre/music that I work with. I am also an avid reader of any kind of book, although Neil Gaiman is my favourite author. I also love arthouse/independent films. When there is snow (not often in Scotland L) I like to snowboard, though I wouldn't say I was any good at it! much falling on my bum! I also love going to art galleries and my favourite activity, although I am not sure if it can be described as a hobby, is eating out! My dream job would be a restaurant critic, my favourite way of spending an evening is a good meal in a great place with some fine wine and good company. Shame I cant afford to do it more often! Getting To Know You Pt 1

As i dont have a blog (sorry to my swap partner, Jess) here is my first 'getting to know you' post. i am 24, i work in the arts, specifically in the world of theatre and music. i am not a performer, but more in the sales and marketing side. its a true love really (well the theatre, not so much the 9-5 graft!!), im lucky. i have just been on a work exchange to Perth Australia, again i am very lucky! I have a degree in Art History but it is not too relevant to my job, but it was a student job at another venue that got me onto my current career and i loved my course so really it all works out! Tonight i am going to see Matthew Bournes 'The Car Man', and am very excited!woop!

Contest #1 (and a belated introduction)

Blogger has been out to get me lately, so I'm a bit late getting to the party here. (And in spite of whatever Blogger may tell you, my blog is located here--I moved it from Blogger months ago.)

I live in the suburbs of Philadelphia, and I'm a wordsmith by trade. This is the first time I've participated in this swap. When I heard about it during the second round, I couldn't sign up because Knittymama was my downstream pal in a different swap and I didn't want her to know who I was! From the introductions and contest entries, it looks like there's a lively, varied group of knitters in this round--I'm already having loads of fun.

My favorite spot to knit and drink coffee is at a local coffee shop (of which, alas, I have no photo). Not only do I get to drink good coffee (and snack on yummy accompaniments) without having to wash any dishes, but I also get to knit in the company of some very fine friends. My local knitting group meets weekly, and since we're all nuts for coffee, a coffee shop is our preferred location.

Hello, i am so excited about this, been a bit slow in introducing myself as I was away in Australia on a work exchange! (i only got back into Aberdeen last night so still spacey from jet lag) i am afraid i don't have a blog but will happily chat away about myself here. i have a facebook page also so if my pal fancies a wee gander at that their very welcome, although there is a lot of embarrassing photos! will defo post again soon but have not been knitting for a whole month so off to think about what to start next....

I participated in the last swap and had so much fun that I already have some goodies ready for my partner. This round I am one of your hostess and I am looking forward to getting to know many of you. I've been visiting blogs and hope you will stop by and visit me too.

About me....I'm a mom of 3 teens ~ 19yo dd, 16yo dd, 15yo ds and will be celebrating my 16th wedding anniversary next week. ;D I am an avid reader, have been crocheting for over 30 yrs and recently began a love affair w/knitting. My favorite knitting spot ~ is Starbucks after 10p, cup of java and knitting ~ perfect! My favorite thing to knit is footie socks. ;D They are called "Not Pedestrian Peds" and you find the pattern here. My fav pasttimes are blogging, swapping, reading, knitting/crocheting, watching mysteries, going to concerts and hanging out w/my kiddos.

Hello from the UK

Hello all, my name is Cybèle, I'm Dutch, but I've lived in the UK since 1995. I'm a single mum to an 8 year old girl and 5 year old boy, and work fulltime as a translator. I've been knitting since forever, making doll's clothes at first. I also learnt to sew and crochet when I was growing up and when I was still working parttime, used to make a lot of clothes for the children. I now haven't got much time for sewing anymore, but I missed the creativity, so recently took up knitting again. It's very slow though, as I regularly have days where I don't have time to pick up the needles at all. Which doesn't stop me stashing and adding umpteen projects to my queue at ravelry!
I've only been into drinking coffee for a couple of years as my partner doesn't drink any tea, so I had little choice ;-) I still like tea as well but you can't go far wrong with a good cup of coffee. My favourite is probably a latte or a moccha, and my best treat is to take the children to Starbucks on the weekends they stay with me - and I think my youngest shares my addiction (no, he doesn't have coffee ;-)
This is my first swap, have read about them for a while now and when I spotted coffee and knitting, I knew this was the one I wanted to join! I've already got lots of ideas for filling a box - a few times over probably....

Southern California here!!

Hello! I got my invite to join the swap!!! So jazzed! I kind of took a break from swapping aside from the HSKS3 swap because the summer was so busy and I was running out of money! I know many times there's a minimum to spend on a swap, but please! Show me a raise of hands of people who generally go $20 to $40 over that limit?? The longer the deadline the more stuff we find to put in that box LOL Anyway, my name is Jenean. I've been knitting for almost 2 years. I lead a local knitting group in my area called Knotty Knitters and I'm the brains behind the 2008 Spring Fling Knitting Retreat taking place in Southern California.

I've been married for 13 years and have four children ranging in age from 6 to 15 years old. I work with mentally disabled adults, but will be switching to the hospitality field soon. I will get my bachelors degree in hospitality management in a little over a year - just before my oldest graduates from high school.

Well, that's enough about me. I'm totally looking forward to this swap and can't wait to get to know you all a little better.

Virginia is for Coffee Lovers

The smell of steaming beans and the sound of clacking needles. Two things I adore. I was introduced to coffee, not that Folgers filth but good coffee, by a college roommate. She was crazy and we had a big fight over room tidiness. I'm so glad she left behind her love for coffee and not her mountain of mess. The knitting I learned later. Yet would have been handy during those stressful college days. A coworker taught me how to knit. She's the niftiest person I know with handicraft skills. I am so glad that I stuck with the skill and pushed through the frustration. Because lace, learning lace, it is enough to make anyone crazy. Come on over and introduce yourself on my blog, or snoop, what ever fits your fancy. I write usually every week and on occasion more than once a week. Yeah, I know, I'm an over achiever that way. I raise a coffee mug to you all and may this be a splendid round of Knitter's Coffee Swap.

Speaking of Coffee..

I am indeed making a pot right now. My name is Megan and I reside in the Central Valley of California. I am about 30 minutes south of Sacramento. Coffee is life for me in the morning. I either make it with my press or I order (iced soy latte, or triple cappuccino dry) from the coffee shop down the way. I like my coffee to taste like coffee, no cream or sugar.

Happy To Be Back For Another Round!

Good Morning! There's a chill in the air today, while I sit here with my enormous cup of coffee, contemplating my fall knitting. What a perfect time of year to have this swap!

I am happy to be back for a second coffee swapping round. It's nice to see some familiar names on the sidebar. I had a wonderful partner last time and am looking forward to meeting other knitters on this round. I'm also eager to start shopping for this swap (especially since something always jumps into the cart for me! Funny how that happens).

I'm in too! Thank you Knittymama for all your trouble and not giving up! I really enjoyed the swap2 and I got a great swap pal. I'm not brilliant at intros though - I'm a German transplant and live in London for 5 years now. Swap2 made me start a blog and you'll find out more here. Most definitely I'm a coffee addict, in fact I've been thinking for the last 5 minutes if I shouldn't have another cup...but this involves going down into the kitchen. Back in Town

Oh, this is great! I'm really looking forward to this - in fact, Tournesol and I (we are house mates) have been enjoying the last of the coffee swap 2 coffee until very recently... Just the right time to start swapping again :) Thank you, Knittymama, for not giving up after the last enormous swap.
So, here I am sitting in London - unfortunately in bed with a flu, but what better excuse could I have to blog and surf the net - the sun is shining, birds are singing, the air already has an autumn chill, and I can hear trains passing in a distance and kids been taken to school (there is an elementary school around the corner).... and looking forward to what new friends, coffee and yarns the swap is going to bring.
